"Goldborough was born out of a desire to create modern products in a traditional way. To design and make, useful and beautiful, high quality products that will not only stand the test of time but add to and enhance their users lives" - Elizabeth Morris-Julien
At Goldborough we source and work with high quality, natural and environmentally friendly materials and apply a modern aesthetic to them. Often drawing inspiration from archtectual, digital and the natural we handmake simple forms and develop a visual and product language that is both modern and bespoke.
Felt Device Cases
We love felt! And we love it's timeless qualities. Felting wool pre-dates weaving and knitting as one of the earliest known fabrics. However, despite its history it is still feels really modern. It is one of the most beautiful and versatile fabrics to use.
Goldborough device cases are elegant, bespoke, handcrafted protective covers. The 3mm thick felt is thick enough to cushion your device and the joining seam gives it an added "bumper" on the edges. We like the juxtaposition of such a natural product for technology gadgets.
Goldborough felt is a beautiful 100% wool. It is sourced in Europe and is Water Repellent, Flame retardant and has been naturally treated against moths and mould.
In spring 2014 we launched our new range of felt cushions. Using the same 3mm 100% wool felt as the device cases these cushions come in a variety of shapes and sizes each one with their own bespoke, hand crafted feel. They bring the design motifs and styles used in the device cases into the home, studio or office.
Every Christmas we run a range of decorative seasonal products that will vary each year. In 2014 with had a range of stockings and tree decorations inspired by traditional nordic knitting patterns. These are available all year and due to the felt quality can easily be stored to become family heirlooms. A great "First Christmas" gift.
If you have an enquiry about these out of season, please contact us for special orders.
After many years working in London, designers Elizabeth and Will Morris-Julien finally answered the call of the wild and relocated back to their childhood homeland in South Pembrokeshire, West Wales. In the summer of 2012 Elizabeth launched a trial range of felt device cases entitled Goldborough (named after her mothers family farm) and the rest is history.
Goldborough is based in Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire, where Elizabeth & Will live and work with their two children Fin and Evie.
"We are so lucky to be based in a beautiful, rural environment, it has a profound effect on our design style. We hope it comes through in our work" - Elizabeth Morris-Julien
